Nutriculture Wilma XL 8
The Nutriculture Wilma XL 8 is a complete active recirculating drip irrigation system for 8 plants. A pump delivers nutrient solution from the reservoir through drippers into each pot at timer-controlled intervals. Run-off drains back and recirculates — eliminating waste and maintaining consistent EC levels. Feeding little and often drives faster root development, higher oxygen uptake and significantly larger yields compared to hand-watering. Compatible with clay pebbles, coco, rockwool and soil. Includes flood and arrow drippers, pump and full irrigation kit. Fits a 1.2 x 1.2m grow space. Explore the Wilma XL 8 and upgrade your grow operation today.
Nutriculture Wilma XL 8 — recirculating active hydroponics for 8 plants
Photosynthetic efficiency and nutrient uptake are directly governed by root zone oxygen levels and irrigation frequency. The Nutriculture Wilma XL 8 addresses both variables with a closed-loop drip-feed system that delivers nutrient solution on demand, multiple times per day, without manual intervention. Developed through the collaboration of Nutriculture and Atami, this system is the benchmark for active hydroponic drip irrigation in indoor cultivation. System mechanics and recirculation logic
The Wilma operates on a top-fed recirculating principle: a pump draws nutrient solution from the base reservoir and distributes it through individual drip lines to each pot. Solution percolates through the growing medium, bathing the root zone, then drains back into the reservoir for re-use at the next feed cycle. Key performance parameters:
- Clay pebbles — flood drippers: 1–3 feed cycles/day for seedlings; up to 6 cycles/day at peak flowering
- Coco / soil / rockwool — arrow drippers: 1–2 cycles/day initially, scaling to 4–5 as canopy develops
- Low-profile tray design: maximises vertical grow space — critical in height-limited tents
- Closed-loop recirculation: every ml of nutrient solution is recovered and reused
Kit contents
The Wilma XL 8 ships as a complete grow-ready system. A timer and growing medium are the only additions required:
- 8 x 11L pots on a leak-proof drip tray
- Recirculating pump with full distribution manifold
- Flood drippers (clay pebbles) and arrow drippers (absorbent media) — both included
- Integrated reservoir with sufficient capacity for multi-day autonomy
Yield advantage: the science of little and often
Single daily hand-watering creates saturation spikes followed by dry-out cycles. During saturation, oxygen is displaced from the root zone — root respiration slows, nutrient uptake drops. The Wilma eliminates this pattern: frequent small doses keep VWC (volumetric water content) within optimal range continuously. Growers consistently report yield increases versus pot-grown equivalents, particularly when using clay pebbles which allow maximum air-to-water ratio around the roots. For smaller grow spaces, the Nutriculture Wilma XL 4 delivers identical performance for 4 plants.

What timer settings are recommended for the Nutriculture Wilma XL 8?
Use a segmental timer with 15-minute interval settings across a 24-hour cycle — not included in the kit. For clay pebbles: start at 2–3 feeds x 15 minutes/day for young plants; increase to 5–6 feeds/day at peak flowering. For coco or soil: 1–2 feeds/day initially, scaling to 4–5 as root mass develops. Never let the reservoir level drop below the pump intake.
Can the Wilma XL 8 be run as a drain-to-waste system instead of recirculating?
Yes. The Wilma can operate in both recirculating and drain-to-waste configurations. Recirculating is preferred with clay pebbles for EC stability and water efficiency. Drain-to-waste is often chosen for coco or soil grows to prevent salt build-up in the reservoir from organic residues. Both configurations use the same pump and dripper setup.
How do I prevent dripper blockage in the Wilma XL 8 system?
After each grow cycle, flush the entire system with a dedicated hydroponic cleaning solution such as ATAclean by Atami. Circulate the cleaning solution through the pump and all drip lines for several hours, then rinse with clean water. Avoid high-viscosity organic additives that can coat dripper orifices. Regular EC and pH monitoring also prevents scale build-up from hard water mineral deposits.
Does the Wilma XL 8 fit a standard 1.2 x 1.2m grow tent?
Yes, the Wilma XL 8 is dimensioned to fit within a 1.2 x 1.2m grow tent footprint. The low-profile tray design keeps the system base height minimal, preserving maximum vertical space for plant canopy development. In larger tents (1.5 x 1.5m and above), the additional space improves access for maintenance and air circulation around the system.
