Concentric Ducting Reducer 100-160 mm
Ducting reducer 100–160 mm – bridging a big gap
The 100–160 mm ducting reducer is the fitting for situations requiring a large diameter jump. Connect a 100 mm duct to an Alu-Dec 163 mm channel in a single step.
When to go from 100 to 160 mm
This reducer is used when an existing 160 mm duct needs to connect to a smaller appliance, or when you are scaling up gradually and temporarily combining different diameters. Also useful in renovations where the wall opening is 100 mm but the new system runs at 160 mm.
Managing turbulence
A jump from 100 to 160 mm is substantial. Air speed changes sharply at the transition, which can cause turbulence. Fit the reducer on a straight section, not immediately after a bend. Secure both sides with a suitable hose clamp for a firm, airtight connection.

Does a large reducer create extra noise?
A large diameter jump can cause turbulence at the transition, which may be audible as a light rushing sound. Fit the reducer on a straight run and avoid placing it right after a bend to minimise this effect. At lower air speeds the noise is negligible.
