Can I run a 100 mm fan on a 150 mm duct?
Technically yes, using a reducer as a transition piece. The airflow remains limited by the 100 mm fan's capacity, however. The wider duct will not perform better than the fan allows. For optimal results, match the fan to the largest duct in your system.
